Thrombosis is a disease in which a blood clot (thrombus) forms and blocks the vessels or arteries, making normal blood flow difficult or impossible. It kills more than 1 million people a year, and it can happen for a variety of reasons, in people of any age group. Therefore, a large part of the population is in one of the risk groups. Even so, this disease is not very well known, much less its causes and symptoms. To raise awareness on World Thrombosis Day about the risks, causes and symptoms of this disease, we need to draw the attention of as many people as possible to this cause. For this, we took advantage of the moment in 2018 when a large part of the Brazilian people became familiar with the term “Fake News”. The reason: the controversies in the presidential elections and a high rate of dissemination of false news on the internet. We created a fake news portal about traffic, public transport and politics in São Paulo, with a text that publicizes the interruption of what appeared to be the Red Line of the subway, the busiest in the city system, in order to show how blocking a red line can bring a lot of trouble. At another time, we released the answer, in addition to the updated website with information about what Thrombosis is, symptoms, causes and prevention.
